Acura Brake System Repair Service
What Is Involved with Brake System Repair
The Acura brake system used by automobiles to assure safe stopping utilizes a series of hydraulic lines to apply pressure against the wheels. A master cylinder starts the process by providing the reservoir for the hydraulic fluid, which in turn goes through the lines to engage the calipers against the rotors of the wheels. Although most people are familiar with the easily replaceable brake pads, other parts of the brake system can suffer failure as well. If a line becomes clogged or damaged it must be replaced, sometimes road grime can get in the wheel and damage a caliper or rotor, and of course, the master cylinder can be damaged if the system is over or under pressure.
Why Repairs Are Needed
Repairs are needed because like all other parts of a car, they go through extreme conditions of traffic and weather, they are working with the force of the engine, and can simply wear down over time. It's usual and expected for a car to require occasional maintenance and repairs, some of which can be predicted with a fair amount of accuracy while others are difficult to foresee. Acura cars are built of high-quality materials and workmanship, but they are going to need repairs as well from time to time. Brakes are an especially important part of the car, as they can become a major safety concern if left unattended after beginning to show signs of a problem, and like other aspects of a car, problems only become worse and more expensive to repair over time.
What Can Happen if Brakes Aren't Properly Maintained
The worst thing that can happen if the brake system isn't properly maintained is that the brakes stop working altogether and the car is unable to stop. That's rarely the case, however, as problems which occur will prevent the car from being drivable long before it gets to such a point, and there are inherent redundancies in the system. First, there are brakes for all four wheels so even though braking may not be effective if one is damaged the other three will stop the car until it can be serviced. In most cases, if an Acura's master cylinder is compromised it will lock all the brakes in their engaged position.
